admin Firefighters from Cedar Knolls and Morris Plains provided mutual aid into Morris Township for a house fire. The fire, believed to have been started as a result of unattended cooking which quickly spread to the front of the home and climbed up the roof. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to report the fire under control. The Cedar Knolls Rapid Intervention Team responded and also provided extra manpower to overhaul the house to look for any additional hot spots. The Cedar Knolls FD First Aid squad was on scene providing rehab with the Morris Minutemen and other mutual agencies. No injuries were reported.

admin The Cedar Knolls Fire Depts. First Aid Squad transported a male to Morristown Memorial after his vehicle overturned early this morning. The driver was driving his truck from Route 24 west to northbound Route 287 in Hanover around 2:20 a.m. Apparently he lost control of the tractor trailer, ran off the road to the left and struck the guard rail. The vehicle overturned and came to a rest on an embankment. The driver freed himself out of the truck cab. The injuries were apparently non-life threatening. A chemical substance glycol, used in dry cleaning, spilled onto the roadway from his truck causing the Morris County Hazmat and Whippany Hazmat to respond.

admin An underground fire sparked an explosion in the basement of the Morristown & Morris Township Library on South Street. The Morristown Police Department told reporters that a passerby reported smoke pouring from a manhole cover on South Street in front of the library shortly before 9am. As the police officers arrived, library employees were evacuating the building. The explosion was so strong that it blew out a window and knocked a wooden door 20 feet off its hinges. Only the library’s 15 employees were inside when the blast occurred and none were in the basement. The Cedar Knolls and Whippany Fire departments were called in to assit the Morristown Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

admin A large fire in the Hearthwood Village condos on Park Street in Florham Park displaced 2 families. Florham Park firefighters were dispatched of a reported working fire on Monday night around 6:08 p.m. The fire was placed under control in about 1 hour. Upon arrival the Florham Park Fire Department was faced with heavy fire and smoke coming from a second-story window.
The town house and surrounding units were quickly evacuated by emergency responders. The fire was ruled accidental, but the exact origin remains under investigation according to law enforcement personnel.
The Cedar Knolls Rapid Intervention Team and Madison Fire department assisted in fighting the fire. First Aid squads from Florham Park & Madison also responded. The American Red Cross responded to assist the two displaced families. No injuries were reported.
Fire Breaks out in Madison Cafe

admin A small fire broke out at a local cafe in the downtown area of Madison. Madison FD. quickly extinguished the fire in about 15 minutes causing smoke and fire damage to the 1st floor of Loryn’s Cafe and smoke damage to a 2nd floor of the building.
Fire Department’s from Morris Township and Florham Park provided mutual aid manpower; the Chatham Borough Fire Department covered the town of Madison during the response and the Cedar Knolls Rapid Intervention team was called in to standby while they were extinguishing the fire. No injuries were reported.
Fire Breaks out in Madison Pizza Place

admin A small fire broke out at the Firehouse Restaurant located in the downtown area of Madison located at 15 Central Ave., According to Capt. Ed Nunn of the Madison Fire Department the fire department received the call at 11:50 a.m. The fire department’s initial investigation reported that the small fire was believed to have been caused by woodframe material around the vent pipe charring from excessive heat. Cedar Knolls along with the Florham Park fire departments were on hand to assist Madison. No injuries were reported and the building has been rendered safe by the towns Board of Health.
